Criticism is the judgement (using analysis and evaluation) of the merits and faults of the actions or work of another individual. Criticism can mean merely to evaluate without necessarily finding fault; however, usually the word implies the expression of disapproval. The psychology of criticismCriticism and narcissistsVulnerability with their own self-esteem makes individuals with narcissistic personality disorder very sensitive to criticism or defeat. Although they may not show it outwardly, criticism may haunt them and leave them feeling humiliated, degraded, hollow, and empty. They may react with disdain, narcissistic rage, or defiant narcissistic personality disorder. Narcissists are extremely sensitive to personal criticism and extremely critical of other people. They think they must be seen as perfect or superior or infallible or else they are worthless. There's no middle ground. The narcissist is constantly on the lookout for slights. He is hypervigilant. He perceives every disagreement as criticism and every critical remark as complete and humiliating rejection: nothing short of a threat. Criticism and paranoidsIndividuals with paranoid personality disorder are often rigid, critical of others, although they have great difficulty accepting criticism themselves. From Wikipedia under the

Why was the nineteenth century biblical criticism seen as more threatening by Protestants than by Roman Catholics? I couldn't fit the entire question up there. Asked by Caitlyn - Sun Mar 7 13:54:52 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. The Catholic Church brought the Bible to the world. It still has the world's oldest Bibles in every form from papyrus, to The Bede's first English translations to the Book of Kells or any other variation of Scripture or the Gospels. It IS the authority on the Bible, and there are no other authorities, only commentators. Some of the commentary will be inspired by the Holy Spirit, so the Catholic Church would embrace that once it is revealed by God. There are marketable properties that sell their "authoritative commentary" as being verifiable. But no one except the Church bothers to verify; and if it does get verified, voila! it's embraced. There is slander and libel aplenty against the Catholic Church, The Bible and Catholic Catechism.… [cont.] Answered by Mediator - Sun Mar 7 15:20:17 2010 Is religious criticism and intolerance the same as racism? Q. At the recent UN anti-racism conference, the US and other countries were boycotting it because of the anti-Israel content, and the attempts by some Islamic countries, still angry after the danish cartoons, to equate criticism of religious faith to a violation of human rights. Is this right? I think in the 21st century we are a becoming more and more questioning, pragmatic and scientific, and religion just does not stand up to any of this. Answered by Clo ! - Mon Jun 1 05:50:26 2009 What's the proper way to respond to a poem when someone asks for criticism here?
Q. Should we just say, "Oh, that's nice! Keep it up" or really offer advice? I think much of this depends upon gauging what kind of feedback the writer is looking for. Some people just want to share their compositions with the community (they're not trying to write great literature), whereas others want sincere criticism (never put-downs, no one wants that, but rather constructive advice). But sometimes it's difficult to discern which kind of response the writer is looking for, i.e., what kind of audience is he or she addressing? Anyone else have thoughts on this? Asked by shakespearesghost - Mon May 26 23:25:16 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. I'm always kind of wary about put downs on poems, I try to be honest about if I like them, but I try to be nice about the ones that I didn't relate to. I think all the poets have their own niche and no two poems are the same, and free verse is just that, so really no two are alike in that respect either, I basically call it as I see it, but like I said before I try not to be overly critical.
