I do strongly believe that clear psychiatric disorders such a bipolar, mania, depression, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders such as suicidal tendencies should be covered by Federal and Provincial/(State) Health plans. In Canada, any psychiatric "mental" problem which is addressed by a "Medical Psychiatric Doctor" or General Practitioner, who is qualified to prescribe medication is usually covered under our Health Care programs administered by the individual Provinces. Psychologists dealing with personal family dysfunctional problems, or neurotic personal disorders are not medical doctors; and, are not permitted to prescribe medications.
